Mario FX Salwan, a lifelong Clevelander, began painting houses in 1989 because of his passion for home improvement and to make money for college tuition at The Ohio State University. Mario grew that college painting company into a full service painting and remodeling company called Buckeye Painting and Decks, Inc. which employed dozens of skilled tradespeople and worked at thousands of homes. Mario even became the youngest President of the Painting and Decorating Contractors of America, Cleveland Chapter, while still in his twenties. His customers kept requesting a better solution for their garage flooring than the highly advertised natural stone and epoxy floors that were hard to clean, ugly and required annual maintenance.
Mario set out on a garage flooring mission that took several years. His goal, a one-time garage flooring solution that was easy to clean with no re-sealing necessary. After analyzing many coatings, Mario found a resin invented by Bayer Material Sciences called Polyaspartic that met the high standard he was searching for. The installation process and coating formulation now used at Garage Finisher was created right here in Cleveland, Ohio by Mario and is proprietary to Garage Finisher, this is not a franchise. Once the floor was perfected, Mario found other high-quality garage products like garage cabinets, slatwall systems and accessories. Since Mario always provided a high level of service for his customers, Garage Finisher also purchased enclosed storage trailers so the customers would not have to empty their garage just to get a new garage floor. Garage Finisher’s staff takes pictures of the garage, removes the contents and stores them in the trailer, installs the new flooring and accessories then re-installs everything back into the garage.
